Really Supporting our Troops
I am not going to be political. There are billion blogs for that. Because I live in the United States this is more focused on US soldiers but still think it applies to other countries and I am sure there are similar organizations around the world doing similar things for troops.
War is different now the in the past. That maybe obvious but a difference that is often over looked is the fact that in past conflict almost all citizen of the nation were asked to sacrifice. We were more connected to the conflict and the soliders in the field. The days of Victory Gardens and rationing are over. The past sacrifices on the the home front may have been small compared to the actual combatants but still it was a sacrifice. It would not hurt us to give a little back.
This doesn't mean sticking a yellow ribbon magnet on your car or putting a graphic on your blog. That is more fashion and make yourself feel good action than anything . Our fighting men and women have real needs. Most should probably be met by the government but they are not. Speaking out about it is good but so is helping out in the mean time. I heard people say the pay there taxes and that should be enough. The government should use that money to make things right. Maybe that should be the case but it is not an ideal world. And it is our Government. It does say "We the People..." in The Constitution. With our freedom comes responsibility to make things right do matter how we have to do it. If you really do not have money or time just find away to say thank you.

Another way to make things better is stop all the nonsense about being for or against the troops just because someone has a different opinion on whether or how a war should be fought than you. It doesn't mean they are against the troops or don't support the troops. I find these sediments disgusting. I have yet to met a single American that does not have the best intentions toward the troops. Everyone wants them to be as safe as possible and treated with the respect they deserve. Those that really that support the troops are willing to at least make a small sacrifice and simple declare they do and slap on a decal.
