Purpose
This sites primary focus is music technology. The best effect of this technology is democratizing of music and sound to both listeners and producers. The free flow of information over networks and the mathematical power of the affordable cpu's allow people access to making, recording, distributing, and finding new music easier than ever before. There is less limitations based on finical means, geographic location, time constrains, formal education, social circumstance, etc. than ever before. You can produce an album or build an amplifier in your bedroom and share it with the world. Rarely do we consider just how cool this is. My intention and the intention of this website is to help and encourage peoples involvement with music by providing information, encouragement, tools or, in any other manner that I can.
Focus
This site is focused toward the hobbyist and DIYyer on a budget. That what I am and that's what I know. Also I may list and comment on things that I like or think are quality etc. but I tried to avoid making bold declaration of what is the "right" way to do things or which sound is best. I tired to keep in mind the subjective nature of sound and music. I try to keep things realistic simple and straight forward. The sites simple layout is a reflection of that.
About Me
I am a weirdo that has gotten to much Sun in the heat of the American Desert. As a child I took apart almost every electronic gadget I owned and sometimes tried to make them into something else or use the for something else. This was before I knew there was anything called circuit bending. I am a big fan of unintended purposes. I grew up a skater punk with that punk rock DIY ideal and always have been somewhat a computer geek. These interest kind of merged all together. This site is a reflection of that.
